The Oxford Middle Eastern Dance Society‘s annual Winter Dance Showcase is a platform for local performers of Middle Eastern and World Fusion dance, including both professional dance artists and student and community groups. The Society’s guest performer this year is Galit Mersand, one of the UK’s most popular performers of Egyptian dance, also known for her one-woman dance and standup comedy shows.
The showcase will include lots of diverse dance styles, from Arabic classical and folk dances to modern ‘Sha’abi’ Egyptian street dance, and “American Tribal Style”, which is a group improvised world fusion dance style influenced by Middle Eastern dance. Society events are known for their fun and friendly atmosphere, and are suitable for all the family!
