May Day in Oxford is a fun and strange event at the same time, with many things occurring during the day throughout the city, beginning with Magdalen Church Tower singing at dawn, Morris Dancing at North Parade, and musicians playing at Sheldonian Theatre steps all morning. With its cobblestone paths and gargoyles, historical stone architecture, Oxford has great atmosphere and mythic charm, which will be a pleasure to watch and dance some Butoh!
6AM- MUSIC on Broad street
9/10AM – CAFE REASON Butoh Dance Theatre Group performance at RADCLIFFE CAMERA
12:30-4PM – THAMES RITUAL WALK from Head of the River along the beautiful riverside to Godstow Nunnery Ruins
5-7PM – BUTOH+MUSIC at Godstow Nunnery Ruins, + PICNIC, Butoh group work and text readings to dance to
Everyone welcome to join the walk, it will be carried out mostly in silence. Look out for the friendly white faces!
